Division Information

The Division of University Brand Strategy and Communications is the university’s chief communications unit and is responsible for:

  • Enhancing, protecting and strengthening UNT’s institutional brand and reputation
  • Reinforcing the university’s relevance to key target audiences, including current and prospective students and their parents, alumni, donors, friends, business and opinion leaders, faculty and staff members, and other constituents
  • Encouraging community engagement
  • Supporting UNT’s student recruitment and retention goals

The senior associate vice president serves as the chief institutional spokesperson in public forms, including crisis, event and issue management, and as the chief marketing and communications strategist.

Bio Information

Ms. Kelley Reese has served as Sr. Associate Vice President of University Brand Strategy and Communications since September 2022 and has been a part of the UNT communications and marketing team for 25 years. Ms. Reese believes deeply in the university’s mission to transform lives and improve communities through education and research that makes a difference. Within the Division of University Brand Strategy and Communications, she has held progressive leadership roles including assistant vice president, associate vice president, senior associate vice president, and a prior appointment as interim vice president from May 2018 to May 2019.

Ms. Reese coordinates integrated strategic communications, recruitment marketing and brand promotion in support of the university’s goals. She provides strategic direction for UBSC’s teams, which are responsible for promoting and protecting the university’s reputation. UBSC’s teams use the full array of marketing and communication tactics for internal and external communications: advertising, integrated marketing campaigns, news and social media, videos, websites and a host of print and digital tools. Ms. Reese also is the university spokesperson and provides leadership for issue management and crisis response. She manages the campus-wide Public Relations and Marketing Committee and interacts with the UNT System and other System-member institutions.
