The Office of Research and Innovation promotes research, scholarship and creative activities that engage faculty, research scientists, students and external collaborative partners. The division supports faculty in the following areas:

Bio Information

Dr. Narendra Dahotre has served as Interim Vice President for Research and Innovation since March 2018. The Office of Research and Innovation is charged with expanding the university’s growth, breadth and impact in research as it grows its prominence as a Carnegie-ranked Tier One research university. He previously served as UNT’s Interim Associate Vice President of Research and Innovation and was responsible for overseeing federally funded research projects and UNT’s shared instrumentation facilities. He is a University Distinguished Research Professor in materials science and engineering, and former chairman of UNT’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Dr. Dahotre holds 16 U.S. patents and is a member of the National Academy of Inventors. Internationally renowned, he is recognized in his field for his pioneering contributions to the fundamental understanding and engineering of laser-material interaction in processing and manufacturing. His research has generated funding support in excess of $10 million from government and industrial organizations. He has published nearly 275 articles in professional journals, is the author of four books and a fellow of nine national and international societies.
