Dr. Albert Bimper serves as Executive Dean of the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences at the University of North Texas. In this role, he oversees UNT’s largest and most comprehensive college, home to over 300 faculty, nearly 8,500 students and 24 academic departments and programs ranging from Anthropology and Political Science to Media Arts, English, International Studies, and the Mayborn School of Journalism. At the heart of the university for high-impact, interdisciplinary research and intellectual and creative discovery, the college prepares the next generation of scholars, engaged citizens, and leaders of an ever-changing, globalized world through a contemporary liberal arts education that fosters intellectual curiosity, bold and critical thinking, and an innovative spirit to improve the human experience.
Dr. Bimper joined the University of North Texas, after most recently serving at Colorado State University, a public land-grant research university, in a variety of advancing leadership roles, including interim director of the School of Education, interim chief of staff in the Office of the President, associate dean and executive director for the College of Liberal Arts, assistant vice provost for academic affairs, and assistant vice president for student affairs. His accomplished record of leadership in higher education is underscored by administrative experience in multiple colleges, academic affairs, student affairs, and intercollegiate athletics. A native of Arlington, Texas and graduate of Arlington Bowie high school, Dr. Bimper was a first-generation, collegiate student athlete playing football as a four-year starter for Colorado State and went on to become a part of the Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts in 2006. He and his wife, Nsisong, are proud parents of their three young children - Tripp, Caydence and Austin.
