Bio Information

Bhavya Kanyadara is the 2025–2026 President of the Graduate Student Council (GSC) at the University of North Texas, representing over 13,000 graduate students. A master’s student studying artificial intelligence, Bhavya brings a strong academic foundation and a commitment to advocacy, inclusion and empowerment. In her role, she serves as the primary liaison between the graduate student body and university leadership, sitting on the President’s Cabinet, Graduate Council, Faculty Senate and other key committees.

Prior to her presidency, Bhavya served as the GSC Director of Marketing, where she led strategic communication initiatives and promoted flagship events such as Graduate Student Appreciation Week and the 3MT competition. She also participated in university-wide focus groups and strategic planning efforts, contributing to initiatives aimed at enhancing the graduate student experience.

Bhavya is also an active researcher in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning, with published work focusing on the integration of AI with interdisciplinary systems. Her research explores a range of impactful applications, including AI and ML methodologies in Navy and defense systems, collaboration between AI and networking, embedded and wireless technologies, as well as the role of AI in modern warfare contexts. Her academic interests lie at the intersection of AI, national defence and real-world system optimization, with an emphasis on developing ethical, scalable and mission-driven technological solutions.

The Graduate Student Council represents the interests of over 13,000+ graduate students at UNT. Since its founding in 1968 and its formal recognition in 2015 via a student referendum, the GSC has worked tirelessly to advocate, connect and empower graduate students. The council comprises an Executive Branch, Judicial Branch and a 55-member Senate, ensuring comprehensive representation and robust advocacy for graduate students’ needs
