Bio Information

Clayton Gibson, Vice President for Finance and Administration, joined UNT in June 2021 and leads UNT's budget, finance and administrative operations. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Gibson oversees the development and execution of UNT's budget, while also supporting its academic and research mission by providing quality financial, business and administrative services to all university divisions.

After transitioning to higher education from a career in public accounting, Mr. Gibson fulfilled progressive leadership roles at Alabama A&M University. He most recently served as senior vice president for finance and administration and was responsible for managing 520 full-time employees, quadrupling institutional cash on hand through robust budgeting and process improvement, overseeing growth of the annual budget by 33% from $150M to $200M, externally securing over $100M for new construction projects, and investing $80M to renovate aging campus infrastructure, both physical and technological. Other positions held during Mr. Gibson's time tenure at Alabama A&M University include vice president for business and finance, university auditor and assistant professor of accounting. He also is a Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges committee chair and special reader for finance. 

Prior to his time in higher education, Mr. Gibson served in management positions at Ernst & Young, LLP where he was an audit manager and provided consultation to clients in various industries. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and Southern Association of College and University Business Officers.
