MaryAnn Martin, Ph.D., joined the Office of the President at the University of North Texas in September 2025. Dr. Martin prepares the president’s remarks for his speaking engagements, manages his social media presence, and oversees his strategic communications.

A first-generation college student, Dr. Martin has worked in higher education for more than two decades as both an instructor and strategic communications administrator. She has taught journalism and public relations at the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City University, South Dakota State University, and the University of Iowa.

Professionally, MaryAnn has led public sector strategic communications, including digital and social media engagement, publications, email marketing, and brand and reputation management, in higher education, public affairs, state government, and health care settings. She also has private public relations agency experience.

A proud mother of three daughters, her scholarly interests include the intersection of news discourses and politics and the role of news media in community creation.
