Office of the Provost Organizational Chart
The Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs is responsible for UNT’s academic mission, including teaching and service. The provost’s office provides leadership in the development and supervision of the university’s academic programs and curriculum in conjunction with the deans and faculty representatives. In addition, it collaborates with UNT's Research Centers and Institutes to promote faculty and student scholarship.
Dr. Michael A. McPherson began serving as provost and vice president for academic affairs in June 2022 following three months as interim. Prior to this appointment, he served as UNT’s vice provost for student success, acting dean of the Mayborn School of Journalism and associate vice provost for faculty success. A professor in the Department of Economics, Dr. McPherson joined the UNT faculty in 1992. His principal area of scholarship involves the economies of developing countries.
