The Postdoctoral and Research Staff Excellence in Student Research Mentorship Award
recognizes postdoctoral and research staff members who have demonstrated exceptional
research mentorship to undergraduate or graduate students at the university. This
may include mentorship of research for undergraduate and graduate students. Up to
three recipients may receive a one-time payment of $1,500 and a commemorative engraved
gift, presented during the Staff Appreciation Luncheon.

Eligibility:
- Nominee must be in a UNT retirement-eligible staff position for at least six consecutive
months.
- Nominee must hold a postdoctoral or research position.
- Nominee must not have received any formal disciplinary action or performance improvement
plan within the twelve months prior to the nomination date.
- Nominee must not have received the award within the previous three years.
Criteria:
- Nominee demonstrated research support for students through mentorship of research
skills.
- Nominee demonstrated initiative in identifying means to mentor students with hands-on
research.
- Nominee contributed to a culture of student mentorship by encouraging experimentation,
collaboration, or continuous improvement in research.
- Nominee mentored students so they develop capacity and skills related to developing
research topics, conducting research, and the communication of research to others.
