The Staff Excellence in Innovation Award recognizes staff members who have demonstrated
exceptional creativity, initiative, and impact in advancing innovation at the university.
This may include process improvements, development of new tools or systems, creative
problem-solving, or support of the UNT innovation ecosystem that fosters a culture
of innovation. Up to three recipients may receive a one-time payment of $1,500 and
a commemorative engraved gift, presented during the Staff Appreciation Luncheon.

Eligibility:
- Nominee must be in a UNT retirement-eligible staff position for at least six consecutive
months.
- Nominee must hold a position lower than the level of Associate/Assistant Vice President.
- Nominee must not have received any formal disciplinary action or performance improvement
plan within the twelve months prior to the nomination date.
- Nominee may not have received the award within the previous three years.
Criteria:
- Nominee introduced or implemented creative solutions that improved operations, services,
or innovative research support.
- Nominee demonstrated initiative in identifying and solving complex problems in innovative
ways.
- Nominee contributed to a culture of innovation by encouraging experimentation, collaboration,
or continuous improvement.
- Nominee developed or supported new tools, systems, or processes that enhanced efficiency,
effectiveness, or user experience.
- Nominee made a measurable impact on innovation outcomes at the department, division,
or university level.
